MyQual International Education Consulting is located in Sydney’s Central Business District (CBD). Sydney is Australia’s largest city with a population of nearly 4.5 million. As a professional education agent we provide study and course advice for international students. Many international students choose to study in Sydney because of the many ethnic communities already established here.
MyQual International provides student advisory services for international students both off-shore and on-shore, whether the student is still in their home country or already in Australia. As an education agent we work with other study consultants in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, India and Nepal. In north Asia we have agreements with education agents in Japan and Korea. We also have affiliations with education advisors in Latin America in countries such as Colombia, Brazil and Argentina. In the Near East and Middle East we work with affiliate agents in Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Egypt. Some of our international education agent partners have offices both in Australia and in their overseas base.
MyQual consulting staff are QEAC- qualified through a professional education agents’ training course recognised by the Australian government. Agents who have previously enrolled in the QEAC course are kept up to date with the latest information about Australian regulations affecting student visas. We have multi-lingual staff with consultants who speak Vietnamese, Spanish, Portuguese and French, and if necessary we have access to education advisors who speak Chinese, Arabic and Thai.
MyQual International is a professional and ethical education agency.
The education consultancy has been operating in Sydney for nearly ten years. We have a good reputation with a number of the government agencies involved in international education in Australia, including DIAC. Applications for student visas are made through the Australian government department of Immigration and Citizenship or DIAC. Students can apply for their student visa to study in Australia through DIAC offices overseas, and there are Australian visa offices in most countries where international students coming to Australia are living. For students already in Australia, MyQual International can assist students with their applications to renew a student visa if they wish to change their course of study or apply to do a new course. For extensions to student visas, as an education agent, and among our student services, we apply directly to DIAC in Sydney of behalf of the student. In order to apply for a visa extension, a student must be already enrolled full-time in a course offered by a registered education provider.
MyQual International only refers students to education institutions that are accredited to be on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students, or CRICOS, and who have a reputation for delivering quality education. Australian education providers that enrol overseas students must be CRICOS accredited. Education agents must have signed contracts of agreement with the education institutions they represent, and a student is referred to a college or university represented by the agent providing the education consulting services. MyQual International represents over forty education providers around Australia; we have agency agreements with universities in Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland. We also represent many private vocational education and training colleges that offer practical courses and hands-on career preparation.
Our education consultancy also represents English colleges in an education sector known in Australia as English Language Courses for Overseas Students or ELICOS. English language centres in Australia must also be accredited under an arrangement called the National English Accreditation Scheme or NEAS. As a further mark of quality English teaching, many language centres also belong to an organisation called English Australia, or EA. This organisation requires still more quality benchmarks from its members.
Australian English language centres provide students with English language proficiency before they start their main course of study. For students going on the further study in vocational training or higher education in Australian universities, most English language centres in Australia prepare students for the IELTS exam. There are other international English exams such as TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), and Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE), but all Australian education providers recognise the IELTS test. In fact some education institutions will accept only IELTS as proof of English proficiency. The IELTS exam is divided into bands and a student must obtain certain IELTS band scores before they can be admitted into a course of study. IELTS test results have a two year validity. If a student applies to enrol in a course in Australia more than two years after they sat their last IELTS exam, they may be required to do more English language training, and sit another test. Minimum IELTS requirements vary according to the course of study and the education sector the student wishes to enrol in. There are many acronyms in Australian international education.
Before a student can apply for their student visa they must receive a Letter of Offer from the institution where they want to enrol. A student may obtain several Letters of Offer from different institutions for the same or a similar course, or even a single institution might offer several Letters of Offer for different courses. As a service to students, MyQual International obtains Letters of Offer from Australian education providers according to what course of study the student is interested in. Usually we make a election from a number of different institutions and offer advice depending on the student’s level of schooling or tertiary education in their home country, and the results of their academic transcripts.
Once the education consultant has provided the student with a Letter of Offer the student must formally accept the Offer Letter and pay a deposit. The deposit is normally the amount equal to the first term or first semester tuition fee. The deposit may also include some non-refundable charges such as an enrolment fee, administration charge or materials fee. The tuition deposit is paid by the international student to their education agent in Australia or in the student’s home country.
When the education provider has received the tuition fee deposit as notified by the agent, the institution issues a Confirmation of Enrolment or CoE. In some countries and through some agents CoEs are issued electronically in an automated process. These are called eCoEs but CoE and eCoE refer to the same document. An international student must obtain a CoE from their enrolling institution before they can apply for their Australian student visa. MyQual International has the right to issue CoEs automatically for some institutions. This makes for a faster enrolment process.
